Sandisk like to give their MP3 player long meaningless names and the SanDisk SDMX4-8192 Sansa e280 8GB is no exception. The Sansa e280 is an 8GB flash memory MP3 player that can handle video and images and has a built in FM radio.
As part of the e200 series this has the largest storage capacity. There is a 1.8 inch TFT screen and a slot so you can add a microSD memory card to add more music. The housing is metal and sturdy and fits nicely in the hand.
The usual music formats are supported including MP3 and WMA. For video you have to use the included Windows PC software to convert video to the MJPEG format. A similar process is used to transform you pictures so they can be displayed on the e280.
This is quite a good small sized player that is solid and sturdy. With the flash memory rather than disk based there is no music skipping. It is expandable by the MicroSD memory card slot. Another nice feature of the Sansa e280 is that the rechargeable Lithium Ion battery is replaceable so you can get a new one to put in yourself unlike many other player where the battery is built in.
